Songs at your Wedding are a very important, to consider when planning your wedding. The song you pick set the general mood and tone for your ceremony or reception, you to express your feelings through music at your wedding.
Setting the mood through music at your wedding and/or wedding reception is important. There are many finds of music. You may chose a live band, Which may have a vocalist, a guitar, keyboard, piano or violin player. If you decide to have more than one of these types of musicians play at your wedding you should have an opening act, and a closing act.
Wedding Cocktail Hour Music
DJ or bandleader should be able to provide cocktail or Social Hour Music. You should have music greeting their guests at the cocktail social hour. This a great way to begin the party part of your wedding day. The music should be mood music and not too loud because the social hour is when your guests will want to "socialize" and catch up on old times.
Wedding Reception Music
About two months before your wedding date you should have a meeting with your DJ or bandleader to confirm all your wedding reception music details such as group introductions, "public" announcements and special songs and their meanings. Prepare a list of songs you want to have played at special moments. (i.e., first dance, father bride, Chicken dance, etc.)
Your band leader or DJ shold be informed of exactly when you want special moments such as... blessing, toast, cake cutting, first dance, father daughter dance, groom mother dance wedding party dance, ethnic dances, garter and or bouquet toss, etc.
You should be informed of band breaks (The band will play CDs while they are on break). Confirm the band or DJs outfits. The DJ should provide a wireless microphone for the blessing, toast, and any other special annoucements etc. Make sure to review the contract which will include items like overtime charge. Set when the final payment should be paid. Tell your bandleader or DJ exactly what you want.
There should be a signed contract for your ceremony, social hour and reception.
Have designated times to start exactly who is in charge of confirming details and scheduling meetings for the wedding day music. This will avoid confusion, delays and most importantly misunderstandings.
